It is about the ride, not the destination.

We had a great ride this weekend to Northport. It was the Cow Meadow Street Fair & Parade that was going on. We had a great time at the fair for sure. We had Ice Cream at the 20's era Northport Sweet Shop and checked out the usual vendors tables filled with homemade Jewelry and stuff. But the main event was the ride. The Ride. Many people don't get this and it is a shame. Many thing that going further or faster is what we strive for. Some people get so focused on the the destination and what things there will entertain us that they forget the reason we get together in the first place. To ride. It is that feeling of freedom as you fly down the road, as you see and feel the road rushing by underneath you. That half thrilled, half scared out of your wits feeling that keeps you coming back to your scooter and your scooter club for more. Our upcoming ride to Montauk will demonstrate that most effectively. No body will care that you did when you were at Montauk, nobody will care that you saw the lighthouse at "The End". But everyone you know will ask you about the RIDE. "You rode that to Montauk?" you friends and family will ask. You will have more memories to answer that question with than you will know what to do with. Just like yesterday's ride to Northport, the main event was carving thru those twisty turny hills on 25A, seeing the harbours, smelling the BBQs & fireplaces burning, the bakeries, the street bands and enjoying the sites at a pace that lets you enjoy them. Unlike Hi-way based rides we get to see & enjoy Long Island's towns, streets, fairs, events, people and culture, not just blurry trees and exit signs. Our rides are designed for making memories, not for making time. The number of miles is not how we measure our success, it is the number of smiles we rack up. Thanx to everyone for making our Sunday Swarm to Northport a great one, as usual. Scoot On.
